Aluminium Extrusion at Marcus

Aluminium extrusion shapes heated billet through a custom die into continuous profiles — the most efficient route to long, uniform components such as frames, rails, heat sinks, and enclosures. Solid, hollow, and semi-hollow geometries are all supported, from small detailed sections to large structural members.

Marcus manages extrusion through qualified partner plants under our own coordination and quality framework: one accountable partner for die development, extrusion, machining, finishing, and delivery — with DFM feedback on every enquiry.

Production process

From billet to finished profile in four controlled stages

The extrusion route is managed end to end — die development, pressing, thermal treatment, and finishing — under one programme.

Billet & die preparation

Alloy billets are selected to specification and the custom die is prepared and validated for the profile.

Preheat & extrusion

Billets are preheated for malleability and pressed through the die, forming the continuous profile.

Quench & stretch

Profiles are cooled to lock in properties, then stretched to relieve internal stress and hold straightness.

04

Cut, age & finish

Profiles are cut to length, aged to T5/T6 temper, then machined and finished to the drawing.

Aluminium extrusion FAQs

What types of aluminium profiles can Marcus supply?

Solid, hollow, and semi-hollow custom profiles to your drawing, including T-slot and V-slot systems, architectural sections, heat sink geometries, and structural members. Standard profiles run up to 12 inches; seamless extrusions for pressure-tight applications run up to 6.5 inches.

Which alloys are available?

The workhorse 6xxx structural series — 6063, 6061, 6005, and 6082 — plus 7005 where higher strength is required. Alloy and temper are selected with you at the DFM stage against strength, finish, and forming requirements.

Can extrusions be supplied machined and finished?

Yes. Profiles are supplied cut-to-length with CNC machining, drilling, and tapping as required, and finished with powder coating, painting, anodising, or plating — one accountable partner from die to delivered component.

How is quality controlled through partner plants?

Extrusion partners operate inside Marcus's quality framework: supplier audits, agreed control plans, dimensional and surface inspection, and documentation aligned to IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 practice — the same discipline as our in-house processes.

What is needed to quote an extrusion project?

A profile drawing or 3D model, alloy and temper, cut lengths and tolerances, finishing requirements, and annual volume. Our engineering team responds within 48 hours with DFM feedback and a die development plan.
